As per reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils have enquired about 27-year-old, Timo Werner, however negotiations are yet to take place.
The likelihood is that Werner will remain at his current club until the summer, but the move could develop over the next few weeks.

Following an impressive debut campaign as manager of Manchester United, Ten Hag has been dealt an unfair hand this season, due to the sheer number of players that have been unavailable, with the current list tallying up to ten.
This was on show at Goodison Park at the weekend, with the only attackers on the Red Devils bench being Facundo Pellistri and youngster, Joe Hugill.
Rasmus Hojlund was one of the players who endured time out, which left an injury-prone Anthony Martial as the main striker versus Everton. Unreliable is the most appropriate term to describe the French attacker and Ten Hag will want to ensure that his side isn’t without a true number nine like last season.

Availability is key and Werner’s injury record whilst he was at Chelsea wasn’t an issue, only missing nine matches throughout his time in London due to injury.
The RB Leipzig forward is known for his electric pace, movement beyond the opponent and being a natural goal scorer, who is lethal when confidence is high. Werner also recognises himself as a player who can perform in numerous roles and four years ago, he stated “I’ve become more versatile”.
Buying individuals who can cover a handful of positions will be beneficial to United, especially going into the second half of the campaign. Werner can feature off Hojlund, as a lone striker or as a left-sided forward, but Rafael van der Vaart isn’t convinced by the attacker, labelling him as a "blind horse".
The Bundesliga transfer curse
Manchester United have signed a handful of players from the Bundesliga in the past, with the majority of those individuals failing to live up to the high standards set by the United faithful.
Jadon Sancho, Shinji Kagawa and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all made the switch from Borussia Dortmund, yet despite having small spells of quality, a lack of consistency has been the driving force behind a shortened career at Old Trafford.

Sancho has been the notable Bundesliga nightmare, now alienated from the squad by Ten Hag after some less-than-favourable numbers. Indeed, the former Dortmund man has only registered 12 goals in 82 outings for the Red Devils.
Unlike the three aforementioned, Werner has played in the English top-flight prior and Premier League fans are more informed of his ability. During his first campaign at Chelsea, Werner played an important role in the UEFA Champions League triumph, whilst also scoring 12 goals and accumulating 15 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions.
However, the signing of Romelu Lukaku in the 2021/22 season affected the German and he later claimed that he “didn’t feel honoured enough”.

It is reasonable to presume that if Ten Hag had his full squad available, including Werner, then the rapid forward would not make it into his best starting XI ahead of Marcus Rashford or Hojlund.
Given the quote just mentioned and the fact that the boss doesn’t rotate often, dressing room unrest may occur like at Chelsea, which raises question marks on whether this would be a smart signing.

وزاد: “هل تدخل المدرب في نتيجة المباراة؟، المواجهة كانت قوية واستطعنا الوصول بالنتيجة إلى 20-11 ثم في الختام كانت النتيجة 40-39 ولكن الضغط النفسي بسبب اللعب وسط تشجيع الجمهور الفرنسي الكبير كان له تأثير سلبي على أداء لاعبينا ولم نوفق في المباراة”.
وأضاف: “المدرب الفرنسي استطاع تحقيق طفرة مع منتخب مصر لسلاح السيف على مستوى الفردي والفرق والدليل النتائج التي تحققت مؤخرًا وتصنيف اللاعبين الذي ارتفع حيث تملك مصر ثلاثة لاعبين ضمن أفضل 15 لاعبًا على العالم”.
واختتم: “مهاجمة المدربين الأجانب أمر سيئ للغاية وسيكون له تأثير سلبي على الرياضة المصرية، وسأتقدم باستقالتي فور انتهاء الأولمبياد وهو قرار لا رجعة فيه”.

WV Raman has been appointed the India women head coach after a day-long series of interviews conducted by a three-member ad-hoc committee set up by the BCCI for the purpose. Raman was one of three names, along with Gary Kirsten and Venkatesh Prasad, recommended by the committee to the board after interviewing nine applicants on Thursday in Mumbai.Raman, the former Tamil Nadu opening batsman, played 11 Tests and 27 ODIs in an international career stretching from 1988 to 1997. Newcastle have been linked with a plethora of players when it comes to filling the void left by Tonali, and the first-choice target arguably appears to be Kalvin Phillips, with the Manchester City and England man continually tipped to make a move to St James' Park.
The Magpies could also look to Saudi Arabia for potential additions, however, with both Ruben Neves and N'Golo Kante mentioned as possible solutions for Newcastle in the recent past. Whatever happens, at least one new midfielder is needed midway through the season, and now another name has been mentioned as an option to come in.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast [via The Boot Room], Crook claimed that Newcastle could potentially sign Gabri Veiga in January, with the Spaniard currently playing for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.

"I think they’re still worried with how they’re perceived, but it would be a surprise for me if they didn’t take at least one player from Saudi in January.
"It might not be Ruben Neves, Al-Hilal are keen to keep him. But Gabri Veiga was a player who was very much in their sights this summer and it was a bit of a surprise at such a young age that he went to Saudi, so I’d keep an eye on that one."
Veiga could be an interesting option for Newcastle, with the 21-year-old's move to Al-Ahli arguably raising eyebrows during the summer, due to his age and the fact that he had been flourishing so much for Celta.
Last season, the Newcastle transfer target scored 11 goals in 28 La Liga starts, showcasing his ability to provide end product from his attacking midfield role, and a future call-up to Spain's senior squad feels possible, considering he has won 14 caps for the Under-21s.

Veiga isn't necessarily a like-for-like replacement for Tonali, with the current Magpies ace a more disciplined figure who often plays deeper, but if the chance to sign the ex-Celta star arrives, it is still a move that Howe should consider going through with.

Frankly, Liverpool haven't been at their best for several weeks now but keep on churning out results, underscoring the never-say-die mentality that has restored the title challenge after a testing 2022/23 campaign.
The midfield summer signings have been spectacular, and while Dominik Szoboszlai has started every Premier League match since his £60m arrival from RB Leipzig, he has possibly plateaued of late.

Szoboszlai has been a mainstay for Liverpool this term, scoring two goals and assists apiece from 19 appearances; in the English top-flight, he has been a whirlwind of creativity and composure, completing 88% of his passes and averaging 2.1 key passes and 6.9 ball recoveries per game.
But, might it be fair to say that the imperious swagger on display at the start of the campaign has lost a bit of its fizz? Of course, the Hungary captain has now settled into the system and charges the club's exploits in the engine room, but against Fulham, he suffered one of his more ineffective games.
Of course, that's not to say that he was objectively poor, winning 3/4 ground duels, completing 85% of his passes and making one key pass, as per Sofascore – also stinging Bernd Leno's palms with two rasping strikes.
But he was hooked just after the hour mark with the affair poised at 2-2, replaced by midweek hero Cody Gakpo as Klopp sought to maintain the chase on table-topping Arsenal.
Writing in his post-match ratings, GOAL's Peter McVitie branded the 23-year-old with a 5/10 score, writing: 'Another quiet performance from the summer signing, he didn't play with the same imagination and effectiveness as we saw earlier in the season.'
With a clash against Sheffield United forthcoming on Wednesday night, perhaps the Reds should think about dropping their "magician" – as he has been called by talent scout Jacek Kulig – who is destined for stardom but could benefit from a reset, especially with Harvey Elliott waiting in the wings…

In contrast to Szoboszlai, Elliott has featured prominently across cup competitions this season but has only started once in the Premier League.
Despite this, the 20-year-old has impressed and is among the finest youngsters that English football has to offer, having now amassed 86 showings for the Merseyside outfit, posting six goals and assists apiece.
Having now entered December, Elliott deserves the opportunity to strut his stuff in the league, especially when considering that he ranks among the top 10% of midfielders across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for shot-creating actions, the top 9% for progressive passes, the top 4% for progressive carries and the top 21% for blocks per 90, as per FBref.
The stats-led site has coincidentally highlighted Szoboszlai as a comparable player to the "special" talent, as dubbed by Jamie Carragher, which only strengthens the argument that he deserves a shot.
With Sheffield United in disarray; bottom of the Premier League and having just sacked manager Paul Heckingbottom, Klopp will expect his free-scoring squad to heap further misery on the bottom club.
With a relentless period of football awaiting, it might be prudent to rotate Szoboszlai for Elliott, providing the dynamic Redman with the chance to prove himself.

وأكد بيب جوارديولا مدرب مانشستر سيتي أن فريقه يستهدف التوقيع مع لاعبين اثنين، لاعب وسط ومهاجم لتعزيز تشكيلة الفريق.
وقال بيب جوارديولا في تصريحات نقلتها صحيفة “ذا جارديان”: “إذا كانت لدي أي مخاوف، فسأتحدث إلى تشيكي بيجيريستين (مدير كرة القدم)، سنرى، لكننا لا نريد إنفاق الكثير من المال على لاعبين لن يشاركوا كثيرًا، إذا كنا بحاجة إلى لاعب، فيجب أن يكون السعر مناسبًا”.
وعن عدم وجود مهاجم ثاني بالفريق مع اقتراب رحيل ألفاريز أوضح جوارديولا: “ربما يوجد رجال يعتقدون أنهم قادرون على منافسة هالاند وسيأتون، سنرى في نهاية السوق ما إذا كان النادي بحاجة إلى بيع أكثر مما هو عليه الآن”.
وتابع جوارديولا: “إنه لأمر رائع أن يبقى إيديرسون وستيفان معنا، إن استبدال حارس المرمى أمر صعب دائمًا، لذا أنا سعيد حقًا ببقائه وأهنئ ستيفان على استحقاقه لعقد ممتد بعد الأداء الرائع الذي قدمه خلال العامين الماضيين”.
وحول الاستعداد للموسم الجديد أفاد جوارديولا: “في الصيف أكون منهكًا، لكن عندما أصل إلى بداية جلسات التدريب وألعب بعض المباريات قبل الموسم وأرى ما يمكننا فعله بشكل مختلف أو ما يناسب لاعبًا أفضل من الآخرين، فلنبدأ”.
وواصل: “لست مضطرًا للركض حتى أتمكن من الحفاظ على الوضع، كل عام يصبح الأمر أكثر صعوبة، الجميع يريد التاج الذي ارتديناه لمدة أربع سنوات، أنا أفهم ذلك، إنها الطريقة التي ندافع بها عن اللقب”.
