They had a night’s sleep, but Pakistan and New Zealand might well have just carried on unbroken by stumps last night, so similar was the tempo today.Haris Sohail and Babar Azam’s 70-over behemoth of a partnership sought to grind New Zealand into the dirt, amassing 186 runs. Both reached Test hundreds, Babar belatedly his maiden one in the format, before a surprise declaration with the score at 418 – the lowest ever for a first innings declaration in the UAE – saw New Zealand have to keep their wits about them. That they did successfully enough, going in at stumps without having lost a wicket but still trailing by almost 400 runs.Curiously, Pakistan didn’t quite pick up the pace even as the pressure lifted. They turned out to be the last runs Pakistan would score, however, with the Pakistan captain pulling the plug after 167 to give his bowlers a crack at a tiring New Zealand.Tests like these in this part of the world have a reputation of bursting into life over the latter half. That bodes well for any viewers who sat through the first two days; they might feel they’ve earned a bit of excitement. The wife of Andrew Strauss, England’s former captain and managing director, has died aged 46 following a battle with lung cancer.”It is with great sadness and immense grief that we have to announce that Ruth passed away today as a result of her rare lung cancer,” read a statement from Strauss, issued by the ECB on behalf of his family. “Sam, Luca and I will miss her terribly.”Anyone who has met Ruth will know how loving, caring and passionately protective she was of her family and it gives us huge comfort that she was in Australia, the land of her birth, surrounded by those who love her, in her final moments.”Strauss met his wife Ruth (nee McDonald) in 1998-99 while playing grade cricket in Sydney, and the pair married in 2003, shortly before he broke into the England reckoning for the first time.Writing in his autobiography, Driving Ambition, Strauss recalled how their relationship began on a night out in the Beefsteak and Bourbon in Sydney, and how Ruth – a professional theatre actress – provided him with the sort of grounding that he lacked at that early stage of his career.”She was a little older than me, much more worldly and most of all great company,” Strauss wrote.”Being an actress, she had plenty of days when she wasn’t doing much. Goncalo Inacio is a Portugal international who became a starting player for his club Sporting at the age of 19. The defender is now 22 and is one of the key players in Ruben Amorim’s side, featuring 21 times this season already.

The number 25 is a left-footed centre back who thrives as the wide left defender in a back three, and he could be Arteta's left-footed version of a current Gunners superstar if Edu is able to secure a deal for his services in January.

Inacio offers an incredible amount of control to the Sporting side, both in possession and out of possession, which instantly draws comparisons to William Saliba, who brings that to the Arsenal side.

As you can see above, the duo is dominant when entering duels and tackling dribblers. With them both at centre back, Arsenal would be able to commit more men forward and gain even more control, with the pairing almost single-handedly able to stop counterattacks. This would benefit the Gunners massively, due to Oleksandr Zinchenko taking on an inverted role and leaving the left-back position vacant at times during overturns of possession.

However, Inacio excels when on the ball and even completely outperforms Saliba, who is regarded as one of the best in the Premier League. It is important to take league context into account, but his statistics are on another level.

Both centre-backs are excellent progressors of the ball, particularly from a passing perspective, but Inacio also offers the ability to carry the ball forward and evade the opposition press. The number of attacking situations Inacio creates is astounding, as reflected by his 1.91 shot-creating actions per 90, which is in the top 1% when compared to other centre-backs in Europe.

Overall, Inacio would have a Saliba-esque impact to the left of Arsenal’s backline, and it is no wonder why Arteta and Edu are so keen on bringing the Portuguese "sensation," as dubbed by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, who could rival Gabriel for his position in the side.

Defeat on penalties to exit the Carabao Cup in disappointing fashion aside, Everton have been enjoying their best form yet under Sean Dyche as of late, who has used the points deduction to rally his side into defiant form in the Premier League. The Toffees look on course to comfortably escape relegation and perhaps even move into mid-table in what would be seen as a massive success for all those at Goodison Park.

That's where the good news could stop, however, with one report suggesting that the Toffees will undoubtedly lose one particular star player after his agents held talks with a European giant. As Dyche looks to continue his transformation of Everton, this could be a massive blow.
