David Moyes must avoid launching a pursuit of Phil Jones in the upcoming January transfer market in hopes of reuniting with the Manchester United defender at West Ham.

What’s the word?

According to Eurosport, the London Stadium is emerging as a potential destination for Jones in the mid-season market as it is expected that the 28-year-old will soon leave Old Trafford.

Jones is yet to feature in any competition this season after boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to omit the centre-half from his Premier League and Champions League squads whilst he recovers from injury.

Solskjaer recently opened the door for Jones to feature after Christmas when stating expectations of the former England international returning to fitness in December, yet it is now said United are willing to let him leave if a potential move catches his attention.

The Red Devils are also open to offers for the 2012/13 Premier League winner to aid his route away from the club, with Jones’ near-£80,000-per-week contract a potential hurdle otherwise facing a move out of Old Trafford.

West Ham and Leicester City are believed to be potential options for the 27-cap England international, while Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has been in communication with Manchester United assistant coach Michael Carrick to gain a better understanding of Jones’ physical state and focus.

A risky reunion

Jones was a regular fixture of Moyes’ defence at Old Trafford during the Scottish coach’s ill-fated year in charge of Manchester United, making 36 appearances, but a reunion at West Ham would be a risky affair with little upside.

While Solskjaer suggested Jones is entering his prime when the defender penned a new contract in February last year, the 28-year-old has rarely enjoyed a regular taste of Premier League football since leaving Blackburn Rovers with injuries occurring year-on-year.

Jones made just two outings in the top-flight last term, while issues restricted him to just 15 starts the season before. Even in his 23 appearances in the 2017/18 campaign – a high since 13/14 – he suffered two hamstring injuries and soon lost his place in the England squad.

Any hopes of being recalled by Gareth Southgate likely hinge on Jones leaving Old Trafford as soon as possible so that he can regain his lost form, which saw Arsenal icon Martin Keown tear him apart after he replaced the injured Harry Maguire for United’s Carabao Cup Semi-Final first leg against Manchester City in January.

“I don’t like to see someone be a figure of ridicule,” he told talkSPORT. “Someone has got to get in his ear and talk to him – he’s still a good player. But sometimes he looks like he’s on roller-skates, sometimes he looks like the stunt-man of the team.

“He demonstrates when he has the ball that he hasn’t got a pass, he’s waving with his arms and he’s pleading with people, but just relax and play! I don’t know how much help he’s getting, but he needs it. If they haven’t got a defensive coach, they need to get one, get in his ear and help him.”

According to a report by The Athletic, should Spurs and Dele Alli part ways in January, Jose Mourinho may want to add another attacker to his ranks. The report has tipped teenage sensation Gabriel Veron as a possible replacement for the Englishman. 

Veron, who is gaining European ‘admirers’ with his performances for Palmeiras on the South American continent, is currently touted as one of the most promising young talents in world football.

Alli is now being heavily touted with a move away, as this report claims inside sources are tipping him to move on – with Mourinho potentially wanting to find a replacement in January if that departure does come to fruition.

Veron an exciting option for Spurs

Veron is allegedly an ‘exciting option’ who could make the move mid-season, with his exploits in Brazil turning the heads of top European clubs.

Indeed, as per this update, a move for the 18-year-old could be something Spurs pursue depending on developments around Alli, with a recent report detailing just how promising the attacker could become.

Brazil Under-17 coach Guilherme Della lauded him a ‘master’, meanwhile Palmeiras Under-17 coach Artur Itiro knows his game inside and out.

Itiro, speaking to the Athletic, described the ‘unbelievable’ starlet as someone who can ‘unbalance opponents’ in the art of trickery – and Transfermarkt claim he is valued at around £22.5 million.

Despite this being a heavy investment for a rising star, unproven in Europe’s toughest leagues, his potential and high ceiling tout the fee as a worthy price to pay.

Whether or not Tottenham do make a January move to replace Alli, depending on his future, remains to be seen – but Veron has emerged as an option for Spurs as the winter window looms.

تحدث مرتضى منصور، رئيس نادي الزمالك، اليوم الثلاثاء، عن عودة مجلسه لإدارة القلعة البيضاء، بعد حكم محكمة القضاء الإداري.

وكانت وزارة الشباب والرياضة قد أعلنت في بيان رسمي أمس الإثنين، عودة مرتضى منصور إلى منصبه كرئيس لنادي الزمالك. (طالع البيان من هنــا)

وقال مرتضى منصور في فيديو نشره على قناته بموقع الفيديوهات “يوتيوب” بأول ظهور له بعد عودته لرئاسة الزمالك: “الحمد لله، لن أقول الله نصرنا، ولكن سأقول الله نصر الحق، وحكمته أنه أعادنا نوفمبر 2022، بعد أن رحلنا في نوفمبر 2021، الحق عاد لأصحابه، وأشكر أعضاء الجمعية العمومية وجماهير النادي التي دعمتنا بعيدًا عن الرموز المنسوبين زورًا لنادي الزمالك”.

وتابع: “أحمد الله على عودة المجلس بأكمله، وأتمنى ألا يتكرر في المستقبل أن يُدار الزمالك بلجان مُعينة، لأن هذا لا يليق بنادي كبير وعريق”.

وأضاف مرتضى منصور: “خضنا معركة قانونية طويلة، وبفضل الله عدنا، وغدًا سأتحدث في مؤتمر صحفي ليس عن الماضي ولكن عن المستقبل لأنه الأهم، وكل ما قيل من اللجنة السابقة عن وجود عقوبات ومديونيات مرة 700 مليون ومرة مليار، كل هذا كلام فارغ”.

وأردف: “لم نأت لكي نُصفي حسابات مع أحد، إنما سنعيد الحقوق لأصحابها، وكل من تم الانتقام منه بسببنا سيعود له حقه، وسأشرح كل شئ في المؤتمر”.

– Em relação ao resultado positivo, a gente precisa exaltar e comemorar porque foi extremamente difícil. The Athletic have recently issued an update about the situation of Aston Villa’s young midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

Ramsey, currently 19, is a product of Villa’s youth academy and broke into the club’s first-team only earlier this year, but there seems to be interest in the young midfielder.

Championship interest in Ramsey

The Athletic released an update on Keinan Davis, but the piece also carried some bits of information about Ramsey’s situation at Villa Park. The article revealed that Ramsey is on the target list of many Championship clubs right now but as things stand, Villa expect the youngster to stick around.

Ramsey was loaned out to Doncaster in January 2020 earlier this year but returned to Villa Park in the summer of 2020 (as per Transfermarkt).

Birmingham Mail had reported about Ramsey last month, saying that Championship clubs are indeed interested in him. The report from the Athletic though, could be a positive considering how Villa expect the 19-year-old to stay.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has previously praised Ramsey and said: “As an Aston Villa player who went through the academy and made my debut at the same age, it’s amazing to see.

“Hopefully the rest of the Under-18s and Under-23s can see him as someone to look up to and try and get into that first-team as well because Dean Smith has proved if you’re good enough, he’ll play you.”

Loan move might benefit Ramsey

In the Premier League this season, Ramsey has made five appearances and he has played only 122 minutes of football in the competition. He has played more in the League Cup and keeping that in mind, the upcoming FA Cup may allow him more game time (as per Transfermarkt).

Having said that, the 19-year-old might need more game time to develop and because of how well the first XI are playing, Villa may not give him that. So it might make more sense for the club to loan Ramsey out – especially considering how well he had done at Doncaster last season.

Na reestreia de seu camisa 10, o Fluminense passou longe da perfeição. Em Macaé, nesta quinta-feira, o Tricolor das Laranjeiras ficou no 3 a 3 com o Madureira, pela terceira rodada do Campeonato Carioca. O saldo positivo foi Fred, que chegou a 167 gols e assumiu a terceira colocação na lista dos maiores artilheiros o clube, além dos seis já marcados na competição.

O Fluminense iniciou tomando conta da posse de bola, mas não conseguiu apresentar tão cedo o cartão de visitas e viu o que parecia ser tranquilo se tornar desfavorável. Aos 7 minutos, Filippe Formiga aplicou um belo drible em Marlon, invadiu a área e fuzilou a rede de Diego Cavalieri: 1 a 0 para o Madureira.

Só a partir de então que os comandados de Eduardo Baptista testaram a pontaria. Gustavo Scarpa, Marlon e Fred deram sequência às investidas tricolor. Porém, aos 33, o Madureira repetiu a dose: quando menos se esperava, tornou a sacudir o barbante. Assim como no primeiro tento, Giovanni estava mal posicionado. Desta vez, o quase xará Geovane Maranhão avançou e encontrou João Carlos livre para completar o trabalho.

Após o segundo golpe, a reação foi imediata. No minuto seguinte, Wellington Silva cruzou para Fred. O atacante disputou com a marcação e a bola sobrou para Scarpa, que tocou para o camisa 9. De primeira, ele chutou com força, diminuindo o prejuízo.

Já na volta do intervalo, a equipe das Laranjeiras demorou 11 minutos para acabar com a vantagem o rival. Scarpa cruzou e Fred, de carrinho e em posição irregular, anotou o seu gol de número 166, ultrapassando Hércules e assumindo o terceiro lugar na lista dos principais goleadores do clube.

Mas o recorde pessoal era pouco. Doze minutos mais tarde, o centroavante fez a trinca. Após cruzamento de Wellington Silva, o estreante Diego Souza cabeceou e Fred virou.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former England centre-back Steve Howey has urged Cenk Tosun to join West Brom this month.

The 29-year-old striker was Baggies boss Sam Allardyce’s first signing during his time at Everton, splashing out £27m to Besiktas for his signature, though things haven’t gone to plan since.

In three-and-a-half seasons at the Toffees, the Turkish forward has only made 58 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists. He was even sent out on loan to Crystal Palace last term, where he scored just once in five games, per Transfermarkt.

Tosun has played only 43 minutes in the Premier League under Carlo Ancelotti this season and has subsequently been linked with a reunion with Big Sam.

According to Sky Sports, the 66-year-old is keen to bring Tosun to the Hawthorns to bolster his frontline, as West Brom rank among the worst three clubs in the top-flight in terms of goals scored.

It’s claimed that any loan deal would be with a view to making the move permanent if Albion avoid relegation – it’s thought that the 45-cap striker is currently earning around £100k-per-week.

On the back of these reports, when we asked him if Tosun would be a good signing for the Baggies, Howey claimed it would be an “absolute no brainer,” for the player to make such a move. He said:

“For [West Brom], I think you’ve got [to say to the player] ‘there are X amount of months left in the season, you’re not playing. We’ll give you an extra little bit more – if you keep us up or if you score X amount of goals, or if you do this, there’s an extra bit in it for you’, so for a player who isn’t playing and is fit, it’s an absolute no brainer, win-win!”

Even in Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s absence on Tuesday night, Ancelotti snubbed Tosun from the starting XI as the Toffees defeated Wolves 2-1. Indeed, he didn’t even come off the bench despite the game heading into the final 20 minutes all-square.

Meanwhile, over at the Hawthorns, Big Sam is currently dealing with a shortage of striking options. He’s sanctioned the loan exit of Charlie Austin to former club QPR despite the serious injury suffered to Karlan Grant.

Tosun would be a welcome addition to the Albion squad given the circumstances, Howey certainly seems to think it would be a good move for all those concerned.
