Manchester United are some way off the league crown this season, lagging 14 points behind rivals Manchester City.

One way that the Red Devils are reportedly attempting to close the gap is by making a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

It is easy to see why they, and as a matter of fact, many clubs around Europe are interested in the forward.

Since joining the German giants from Red Bull Salzburg, he has plundered an eye-watering 43 goals in just 45 appearances. Pundits such as Jermain Jenas have even labelled him as “complete” at just 20 years of age.

However, it could be argued that the Red Devils simply do not need the forward despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly being “in regular contact” with the player and therefore seemingly keen on a deal for his compatriot.

In having the likes of Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and even Bruno Fernandes already at the club, United are more than capable of putting the ball in the back of the net.

Indeed, they are the second-highest scorers in the league this season with 53 goals. It is simply not their goalscoring which has left them lagging behind Pep Guardiola’s men.

It is instead at the other end of the pitch where their standards have fallen low. United have already conceded 33 goals in the Premier League this season. Only Everton in the current top six have shipped more.

With it being reported that recruiting a new centre back is being considered by the club, the fee that it would take to bring Haaland to Old Trafford could be spent more smartly.

Currently rated at £99m, it might well be suspected that an even higher fee could be demanded by Dortmund for them to even contemplate letting their star depart – eliminating a vast chunk of United’s transfer budget.

A lack of a move could anger Solskjaer considering his apparent interest in his fellow Norwegian, but the funds being spent on other parts of the squad make a lot more sense at the current time for Ed Woodward and the Old Trafford hierarchy.

واستطرد: “محمد صلاح لاعب كبير ويستطيع أن يقود منتخب مصر للمنافسة على لقب كأس الأمم الإفريقية، ولكن ليس بمفرده، ويحتاج لمجموعة اللاعبين فى منتخب مصر”.

The 33-year-old has started the last four Premier League fixtures due to Matty Cash’s hamstring injury, however, it seems as if his four-year stay in the Midlands will reach a conclusion at the end of the season.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Villa are unlikely to offer him a fresh deal, with his current contract set to expire in June.

Guilbert to return and replace Elmohamady

The report also adds that Frederic Guilbert, who was sent out on loan to Strasbourg in January, is set to return to challenge Cash during the 2021/22 campaign.

Guilbert, 26, has already scored and provided two assists in just 360 minutes of Ligue 1 action, with Strasbourg undefeated in league games the French right-back has started.

Transfer Tavern take

Although Elmohamady has been a terrific servant to the club, it feels as if the summer will be the correct time to part ways with the Egyptian.

Cash has made the right-back spot his own since joining from Nottingham Forest, and with Guilbert making an impact in his native country, the two could push each other on going forward with Guilbert serving as a natural replacement to the Egyptian.

Elmohamady reportedly picks up £25,000-a-week at Villa Park, so that wage could go towards a summer addition.

O primeiro lance foi santista. Ricardo Oliveira emendou chute de primeira e obrigou Wilson a cair para espalmar. Na sequência, Caju entregou um presente para Dodô, que serviu Kleber debaixo do gol e viu Vanderlei fazer excelente defesa.

À exceção das duas chances, o que se viu foram duas equipes sem intensidade. Muitos passes laterais e pouca penetração entre as linhas.

Na segunda etapa, João Paulo ficou com “inveja” de Caju e decidiu presentear o Santos com um gol que ele mesmo não acreditava. Recuou mal para o goleiro Wilson, Ricardo Oliveira antecipou e só empurrou.

Ao assumir a liderança do placar e a vice-liderança do Brasileirão, Vitor Bueno ainda teve chance de ampliar após cruzamento de Léo Cittadini, mas não conseguiu alcançar.

Com o gol, o Santos esfriou ainda mais o jogo e contava os minutos para o fim. Mas a bola aérea – sempre ela! – atacou mais uma vez. Evandro cabeceou, Vanderlei espalmou e Kleber completou para empatar tudo.

E lembram da relação entre Caju e João Paulo? Pois o lateral do Santos tentou novamente retribuir a gentileza. “Dominou” uma bola para Evandro, que saiu na cara do gol e acertou a trave esquerda do Peixe.

Mas o erro de Evandro foi recompensado por outro presente. Este divino. Iago arriscou chute despretensioso de muito longe e acertou o ângulo de Vanderlei aos 40 minutos.

Many Everton fans have been left to bemoan an injury that Jordan Pickford has sustained which will mean that he will miss their next game.

As per the official website of the Goodison Park faithful, the former Sunderland ace has sustained an injury to his oblique abdominal muscle after he was forced off in the first half in their 2-1 home loss to Burnley in the Premier League last time out.

As a consequence, he has been ruled out of the Merseyside club’s next game, which is at home to Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

If that match was not already going to be tough enough, Carlo Ancelotti’s team will now have to somehow find a way into the next round of the competition without their number one goalkeeper, just as he had been finding his best form of the season.

بينما يستعد توتنهام هوتسبير لمباراة الجولة الثالثة ضد فريق موركامب في كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي، أعلن المدرب أنطونيو كونتي بعض الأخبار السيئة بشأن إصابة سون هيونج مين.

في مؤتمره الصحفي يوم الجمعة، صرح أنطونيو كونتي أنه تم استبدال سون في البداية أمام تشيلسي لمنحه الراحة، لكن في اليوم التالي شعر بألم عضلي في ساقه مما أدى إلى إجراء فحص له.

أوضح الفحص أن هناك إصابة ستبعده عن الملاعب لبضعة أسابيع، على الأرجح حتى فترة التوقف الدولي.

وقال كونتي: “سون مصاب، لا أعلم لكن ربما يظل بعيدًا عن التدريب حتى نهاية هذه الدورة، قبل فترة التوقف الدولي”.

وتعد إصابة سون ضربة قوية لـ توتنهام حيث يغيب عن المباريات ضد تشيلسي (كأس الرابطة) وأرسنال وليستر سيتي، ثم تشيلسي في الدوري الإنجليزي.

وفي الوقت الذي تكون فيه النقاط حاسمة على بعد نقطتين فقط من مكان في دوري أبطال أوروبا، سيتعين على توتنهام التوصل إلى حلول سريعة.

في هذا الموسم سجل سون ثمانية أهداف وقدم ثلاث تمريرات حاسمة، وبضربة كهذه، من المهم النظر إلى البدائل المحتملة.

O treinador deve confirmar suas opções nos treinos durante a semana, mas a primeira delas será obrigatória: Bruno Henrique, o titular da posição desde o início da temporada, foi liberado pelo Corinthians para acertar com o Palermo, da Itália. Caso sejam confirmadas as duas alterações, o Corinthians jogaria assim contra a Ponte Preta: Cássio; Fagner, Yago, Balbuena e Uendel; Cristian; Marlone, Rodriguinho, Elias e Marquinhos Gabriel; Guilherme. O meia Danilo, recuperado de lesão, deve ser opção no banco de reservas. Sem ninguém suspenso, o Corinthians não deve contar apenas com Rildo, que trata dores musculares na coxa esquerda.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, ex-Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie believes his former club should consider signing Fulham attacker Bobby Decordova-Reid in the summer transfer window.

Fulham are currently in danger of being relegated back down to the Championship, meaning there could be some high-profile departures at Craven Cottage before the start of next season.

Decordova-Reid, 28, has been one of the Whites’ star performers this term, delivering five top-flight goals for the club including against relegation rivals West Brom and Liverpool, so some interest in the summer could be possible. And Hendrie is hoping his old side will be at the front of the queue if Scott Parker’s men do end up going down.

On who Dean Smith should be targeting in the transfer market, the former Villa player told FFC:

“If Fulham do go down, I just feel that there’s possibly a couple of players I would certainly look at in that team that would certainly stand out for me. [Harrison] Reed in the midfield, [Ademola] Lookman and Bobby Decordova-Reid, he’s one again that I’d certainly have, and he would play week in, week out.”

While Villa are certainly having a good season, firmly in contention for European qualification, they could do with some attacking reinforcements going into the next campaign.

The Villans have looked blunt in attack at times this term, especially when Jack Grealish has been unavailable. In recent games against Newcastle United, Wolves and Sheffield United, which the Villa captain missed, Smith’s men failed to pick up a win, scoring just one goal.
