According to a report by ‘transfer insider’ Dean Jones, writing for Eurosport, Chelsea have performed a Declan Rice U-turn and now see Jude Bellingham as the ‘better buy’ – coming as a possible boost for West Ham United and David Moyes in their hopes of keeping the Englishman.

Rice has been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium over the last year due to his fine form for the Hammers, evident by his impressive 2 interceptions and 1.9 tackles per game in the Premier League this season (WhoScored).

A consistent force in midfield, the 22-year-old is currently out due to injury as West Ham aim to mount a strong finish in their bid for a European qualifying spot.

As they seek to keep hold of Rice for the 2021/2022 season, Jones has shared news that Chelsea have now identified Bellingham as the ‘better buy’ – coming after former boss Frank Lampard was a real admirer of West Ham’s star midfielder.

A possible boost for Moyes, one Premier League giant appears to have diminished their interest in prising the Irons’ star asset away this summer.

Despite this good news, reports suggest the likes of Man United are still heavily in the running for Rice – with GSB and West Ham facing a possible fight to keep him.

One advantage the Hammers could hold is the unprecedented financial climate caused by coronavirus and any interested parties will have to invest very heavily.

The club are said to value Rice at around £100 million, and judging by this valuation, it appears West Ham appear very intent on keeping their man.

What’s the word?

Italian news outlet Calciomercato claim that Maurizio Sarri is high on their wishlist to replace the recently sacked Jose Mourinho in north London.

In fact, they suggest that talks between the Spurs hierarchy and the 62-year-old have already gotten underway and that the ex-Juventus title-winner is keen to return to London.

Although, he has also been linked to AS Roma, where Paulo Fonseca’s job appears to be under threat.

This could well have disaster written all over it for Spurs.

Despite winning the Europa League at Stamford Bridge, Sarri’s stock hardly rose and he was sacked by Juve ahead of this current campaign having failed dismally in Europe, with the inexperienced Andrea Pirlo taking over, which speaks volumes in itself.

The former Napoli man earned a bit of a negative reputation at Spurs’ rivals, particularly for the brand of football on offer and that would go against one of Levy’s key aims – to find an attack-minded coach next.

All of these factors bear similarities to the Mourinho reign at Spurs.

It is thought that Levy pulled the trigger on the Portuguese after effectively losing the dressing room. According to The Athletic, Mourinho “sucked the culture out of the club” and many at the club were unhappy with how he threw his players under the bus in recent months.

As another former rival boss, you’d imagine this would go down like a led balloon, too.

By appointing Sarri, the Spurs chairman could well be about to repeat the same mistake. If he wants to go down a different path this time, then he must avoid appointing the out-of-work Italian.

If you looked at the League One table around two weeks ago, it had Sunderland in a very good position.

The Mackems sat in third place and with two games in hand and they were in control of their own destiny.

They were the undoubted favourites for promotion heading into the final two months of the campaign but it has not played out as Lee Johnson would have hoped.

His side were unbeaten in 14 straight matches before they travelled to Peterborough and since drawing there, they’ve faulted as they have done in the last few years.

The Black Cats now haven’t picked up three points in six games with their promotion hopes now hanging by a thread.

If anything summed up the last fortnight for Sunderland, it would be their clash against Accrington. After Charlie Wyke became the first Mackems player since Kevin Phillips at the turn of the millennium to score 30 in one season for the club, it looked as though they were coasting to victory.

Wyke had netted twice inside the first 11 minutes but they collapsed catastrophically, so much so that once the referee blew for full-time, the score was a demoralising 3-3.

Sunderland were made to bemoan yet more bad defending, this time from Luke O’Nien who was uncharacteristically poor at the heart of the defence.

He allowed Colby Bishop to get in behind him for the first goal as he was caught ball watching and then his own goal was simply disastrous. O’Nien and Lee Burge didn’t communicate properly, allowing the former Wycombe man to head the ball past his own goalkeeper and into the net.

However, those mistakes would have been easier to comprehend if Sunderland were better in front of goal. They may have scored three times but during the course of the match they had a whopping 17 attempts.

One of the worst culprits from an offensive point of view was Aiden O’Brien. He was particularly lacklustre in front of goal, having two opportunities in the first period which could have put the clash beyond doubt.

Just before the half-hour mark, O’Brien was set free in behind but once he got to the edge of the area he somehow stuck his shot straight at Toby Savin. He then saw another effort from the Accrington stopper saved moments before the break.

O’Brien’s poor performance extended beyond his finishing, however. The attacker managed just 27 touches before being dragged off on 74 minutes, a number that was significantly fewer than Burge (51).

On top of that, he completed only 11 passes in the entire game. It was the worst on the field with Carl Winchester matching him of those to start from a Sunderland perspective.

This was a sloppy performance from O’Brien, one that showed he had no right to start the game ahead of someone like Jordan Jones or Jack Diamond, the man to provide the assist for Max Power’s strike.

Johnson won’t be happy with his forward at all.

Como técnico do Fluminense, Levir Culpi dirigirá o time pela primeira vez no Maracanã nesta sexta diante do Vitória. O treinador se mostrou feliz pela oportunidade, ainda mais tratando-se de um palco histórico como o estádio carioca. Como treinador, Levir Culpi já dirigiu outras equipes no Maraca, como o Botafogo e Atlético-MG, mas foi como jogador do Santa Cruz, em 1975, que o ex-zagueiro viveu um momento mais marcante no Estádio do Maracanã.

– (Meu jogo inesquecível) Foi jogando pelo Santa Cruz uma vaga para a semifnal do Brasileiro em 1975. Vocês (jornalistas) terão que que acionar o Canal 100, em branco e preto, para ver. Sou um cabeludo na defesa do Santa, ao lado do Lula Pereira. O Flamengo tinha um timaço, com Zico, mas eu tenho sorte desde aquele tempo. Nós ganhamos do Flamengo. Até registrei isso no meu livro – comentou Levir Culpi, autor de “Um burro com sorte?”.

A partida destacada por Levir foi no dia 4 de outubro de 1975. Mais de 74 mil torcedores assistiram à vitória do Santa Cruz por 3 a 1 sobre o Flamengo, em jogo válido pela terceira fase do Brasileiro. Com o triunfo no Maraca, o Santa foi à semifinal do torneio, mas foi o Internacional que sagrou-se campeão no ano.

Por conta da utilização do Maracanã e do Engenhão nos Jogos Olímpicos do Rio-2016, o Fluminense passou o ano na estrada, atuando em Volta Redonda, Brasília, Cariacica e Mesquita como mandante. A dificuldade na temporada foi destacada pelo treinador, que já projeta contar a história do jogo contra o Vitória, nesta sexta-feira, em um novo livro no futuro.

– Com certeza, em um segundo livro, vou contar sobre esse jogo. Esse é um dos anos mais complicados do Fluminense. Não sei se posso dizer que é mais difícil da história. Vai ser o primeiro jogo em casa no ano. São essas coisas que me mantém trabalhando. Adrenalina de jogar em um estádio emblemático. Quem não gostaria de jogar uma partida ou bater um pênalti no Maracanã? É coisa de criança. Eu tenho essas lembranças – comentou o técnico do Tricolor.

اعترف لاعب وسط الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي تشيلسي، جورجينيو، بأنه يحلم باللعب تحت قيادة مدرب مانشستر سيتي، بيب جوارديولا، في المستقبل.

وانتقل جورجينيو إلى تشيلسي في صيف عام 2018 من صفوف نابولي أثناء عهد، ماوريسيو ساري، رغم أنه كانت هناك مفاوضات متقدمة للغاية مع مانشستر سيتي.

وتحدث جورجينيو عن الأمر في تصريحات مع مقدم البرامج البرازيلي، ألي أوليفيرا، على موقع “يوتيوب” وقال: “عندما غادرت نابولي، كان يجب أن أوقع مع فريق إنجليزي آخر لم يكن تشيلسي”.

وتابع: “ثم جاء تشيلسي وتغير كل شيء بسرعة كبيرة، ليس سرًا على أحد، فقط ابحث في الإنترنت واعثر عليه، فهو مانشستر سيتي”.
