In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Steve Howey, who made 278 appearances during his career, believes that the amount of injuries that Danny Ings sustains is what holds him back from a move to a bigger club.

Ings has experienced a move to a top club once already in his career when he left Burnley to join Liverpool, however, injuries hampered his time there where he only managed 25 appearances in three seasons.

Last season Ings was able to stay injury-free and he showcased what he’s capable of as he scored 22 goals which saw him finish as the Premier League’s second top scorer, only behind Jamie Vardy.

Speaking on why Ings must be a strong player mentally and how injuries are holding him back from making that next step in his career, Howey told FFC exclusively:

“I think sometimes when you have an injury, players come back mentally stronger and there’s no doubting his mental strength and he’s also a quality player.

“If he wasn’t injured as often as he was, I think, without being disrespectful to Southampton, he would be at a bigger club.”

This season Ings hasn’t been as effective in front of goal managing just 10 goals in 25 Premier League games which has seen Southampton tumble down the table.

The £75,000 per week striker has been linked with a surprising move to Manchester City as they look for someone to replace Sergio Aguero, who is leaving at the end of the season.

O grande problema é que nenhum deles fez mais de 18 jogos profissionais pelo clube. Marquinhos, hoje na Seleção Brasileira, saiu com 15 partidas. Arão, destaque no Flamengo, somou justamente 18. Rodinei, seu companheiro no futebol carioca, fez só a estreia – depois não jogou mais.

Com Léo Santos, o Corinthians chegará a sete só em 2016, após a entressafra das últimas temporadas. O grande desafio é consolidar os meninos no time de cima. Nomes como Pedro Henrique e Léo Príncipe estão próximos disso – especialmente o primeiro, que já teve sequência como titular. Mas a missão não é fácil para um clube sob pressão, que tem buscado nomes mais experientes no mercado.

– Temos qualidade, não à toa estamos aqui, não caímos de para-quedas. Agora temos de jogar com raça, o resto é consequência – diz Léo Santos, que passará de quinta opção a titular no dia 16, contra o Figueirense, jogo fundamental para as ambições do Timão no ano.

Os meninos não subiram por acaso. E agora querem se firmar.

Caique – Quarto goleiro teve sua vez em partida contra o Botafogo, no Brasileirão. Jogou por 45 minutos e foi bem.

Pedro Henrique – Zagueiro também havia atuado, mas estreia oficial foi em 2016, 14 jogos e até sequência no time.

Léo Príncipe – Garoto voltou de empréstimo para ser o suplente de Fagner. Jogou seis partidas e até já marcou um gol.

Maycon – Promovido após a Copinha, fez 15 partidas, mas foi emprestado à Ponte Preta. Lá, joga.

Claudinho – Uma única chance no ano, em jogo contra o Linense, no Paulista. Está emprestado ao Bragantino na Série B.

ANO A ANO:

2012 – 8 estreantes: Gomes, Denner, Marquinhos, Mateus, Rodinei, Antônio Carlos, Giovanni e William Arão. Ninguém se firmou no clube.

2013 – 4 estreantes: número baixou pela metade no ano seguinte, com Yago, Igor, Léo e Paulo Victor. O primeiro tem jogado agora.

2014 – 4 estreantes: Guilherme Arana, Zé Paulo, Malcom e Tocantins. Apenas o primeiro continua no clube.

2015 – 3 estreantes: Marciel, Matheus Pereira e Rodrigo Sam.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that he would welcome Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Villa Park this summer.

Loftus-Cheek is currently on loan at Fulham and is set to return to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season.

However, with Thomas Tuchel blessed with options such as N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech in midfield and attack, the 25-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge looks uncertain.

And, according to TEAMtalk, Villa are ready to pounce, though they face competition from Crystal Palace.

Speaking exclusively to FFC about the possibility of Loftus-Cheek joining Villa in the upcoming transfer window, Hendrie said:

“Why not have him as an addition? He’s a great creative threat, he’s strong, powerful and quick and we know he’s got great ability on the ball, so I’d certainly have him in the mix.”

Should Fulham get relegated, which is likely to be the case looking at the table, Loftus-Cheek will probably not want to stay at the club and drop down to the Championship as he looks to get back into the England reckoning.

Considering that, perhaps a move to Villa Park could be on the cards for the 2017 Premier League title winner.

وتابع: “ديانج يتمتع بلياقة بدنية جيدة على الرغم من صغر سنه، وعمره يسمح له بالضغط على الخصم طوال الـ90 دقيقة، ولديه كل السمات المطلوبة للعب في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز”.

وأردف: “لا أقول يجب أن يلعب في تشيلسي أو مانشستر يونايتد أو ليفربول، ولكن ربما يمُكنه اللعب مع أي فريق آخر”.

وأكمل: “نعم يوجد العديد من اللاعبين يمُكنهم اللعب في الدوري الإنجليزي، مثل محمد عبد المُنعم، وأعتقد أنه لاعب أوروبي، إنه لاعب جيد تمامًا، ومدافع مُتكامل، إنه سريع ولا يزال شابا، يقفز بشكل رائع، يُمكنه تمرير الكرة بشكل مريح للغاية على أرض الملعب”.

وأتم تصريحاته قائلًا: “أليو ديانج ومحمد عبد المنعم، لديهما فرص كبيرة للعب في الدوري الإنجليزي أو في الدوري الإسباني، لماذا لا يلعبان هُناك”.

The Hoops have considered a number of appointments but Dermot Desmond has been struck with plenty of sticking points.

What’s the word?

Eddie Howe has been linked with the job on a regular basis over the last month but a deal is thought to be reaching a conclusion.

That being said, Celtic may be forced to think again after a surprising piece of news emerged this week.

That’s because a new name has now emerged in their chase for Lennon’s replacement. That’s the word of Duncan Castles who shared the latest information that he’d been given on the Transfer Window podcast.

He said: “With Roma parting with their current coach Paulo Fonseca, obviously, a Portuguese legend in terms of his career, he has been offered to both Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur as replacements for Neil Lennon and Jose Mourinho.”

A twist on the cards

With Celtic flirting with Howe for so long, it would be an almighty surprise if they suddenly changed their plan.

That said, extraordinary circumstances appear in football that are sometimes simply too hard to refuse.

In terms of improving their status in Europe, Fonseca would certainly be a valuable hire for Dermot Desmond and co.

He is set to be replaced by Jose Mourinho at Roma once the season comes to a conclusion but it’s been a successful one as far as Europe is concerned.

Fonseca has guided his side to the semi-finals of the Europa League and has shown himself to be a serial winner.

The 48-year-old took Shakhtar Donetsk to three league titles in a row, amassing a win success rate of 74%.

Used to dominating a domestic league and then adapting well in Europe, this could be a crucial skill for a Hoops side striving to do the same.

They have been usurped by Rangers domestically while their continental campaign this term was nothing short of a disaster.

Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League in the qualifying stages and then finished rock bottom of their Europa League group after conceding 19 goals in six outings.

Fonseca may have seen his team decimated 6-2 by Manchester United in the Europa League semi-finals a week ago but he has proved to be adaptable before that.

With Howe possessing no experience in Europe at all, perhaps the Celtic boardroom needs to look towards Fonseca instead. Nobody was really expecting Fonseca to be an option, but now he seemingly is, he could be an excellent selection for the Hoops.

It would not be a shock at all if Celtic decided to take a bit of time to assess Fonseca before they commit to Howe, or indeed any other candidate, so this information that Castles has passed along could very well lead to a further delay whilst the Hoops consider their options again.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has revealed how George Graham forced him out of the Yorkshire club back in 1997 and shed light on his overall relationship with his ex-boss.

Palmer spent three seasons at Elland Road, making just over 100 appearances in the Premier League before joining Southampton.

The retired England international scored five goals in those appearances while playing alongside the likes of Ian Rush and Tony Yeboah, players who also had their difficulties with Graham.

Speaking exclusively to FFC about his Elland Road exit, Graham and former team-mates, Palmer said:

“From the first day he [Graham] came into the football club, he made it clear to me that I wasn’t in his plans. I don’t understand the reason why. I don’t understand how you can walk into a football club and just make a decision based on nothing.

“And it wasn’t just me. He made this about Ian Rush, Tomas Brolin, Tony Dorigo, Brian Deane. He made those judgements even with Tony Yeboah, so it was an uncomfortable time for me, and the club allowed him to do it.

“This is what he did. He’s a bully and I’m not afraid to say that. He couldn’t bully me, but he’s a bully.”

Focusing on the move to Southampton specifically, Palmer went on to add:

“You’re saying to me I’m not good enough, right? Harry Redknapp comes in for me at West Ham, Joe Royle comes in for me at Everton, and you’re not going to sell me to those two clubs?

“He told me you can either go to Southampton, who were seven points adrift at the bottom of the league, or in the Championship. And even when I [eventually] went to Southampton, he put in a clause that I couldn’t play against Leeds United.

“If I was that bad of a player, and he thought I was that bad of a player, why are you putting in a clause that I can’t play against you? So it shows you that move was nothing about football. That was about control, controlling the dressing room.”

As well as Leeds and Southampton, Palmer also enjoyed top-flight spells with Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Coventry City.

Present day, it has been contrasting seasons for two of Palmer’s former clubs Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday. While the Whites have impressed in the Premier League this term under Marcelo Bielsa, the Owls have been extremely disappointing in the Championship.

وقالت الشبكة إن ربما أيضًا توتنهام هوتسبير يحاول التعاقد مع اللاعب، بطلب من مدرب الفريق الإيطالي، أنطونيو كونتي، في ظل عدم اقتناعه بـ إيمرسون رويال الظهير الأيمن للفريق.

سينجو عقده مع تورينو سينتهي في يونيو 2023، والنادي الإيطالي منفتح على بيعه مقابل 15 مليون جنيه إسترليني إذا لم يوافق على التمديد.

ويلفريد سينجو هذا الموسم مع تورينو، شارك في 26 مباراة بمُختلف المسابقات، وتمكن من إحراز ثلاثة أهداف وقدم أربع تمريرات حاسمة.
