Speaking to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur ‘insider’ and club source John Wenham, who breaks news on his Lilywhite Rose social media account, has shared what he thinks Nuno Espirito Santo could do against Wolves tonight.

Sharing what he thinks Nuno could do against Wolves this evening, club insider Wenham has predicted to Football Insider that he may turn to Scarlett with Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura ruled out.

“I think he will feature tomorrow,” Wenham told FI.

“He could start or come on from the bench. We don’t need Harry Kane doing 90 minutes at Wolves with Arsenal to come on Sunday.

“Were we to lose him as well, we would not be looking in great shape ahead of that North London Derby.

“Scarlett is an outstanding young forward. The fact he was playing for the England Under 19 side as a 17-year-old tells you everything about his ability.

“I would love him to get some minutes as a young, homegrown, academy prospect.”

The Verdict: Do it…

Getting Scarlett as much game time as possible is arguably imperative if he is to develop as an eventual first team star for Spurs, and we believe the stage is set for him to play against Wolves.

The losses of both Bergwijn and Lucas free up space on the wings for a hungry, exciting young forward to make a big impression.

Alasdair Gold called the starlet ‘very, very talented’ and now may be his chance to shine once again for Spurs.

The pair were in control, putting on 67 for the second wicket before Northeast was trapped in front by Thomas Kaber, a 16-year-old left-arm spinner from Transvaal making his debut. England’s innings fell away, as Dale Deeb made crucial inroads, but there were useful contributions from the lower-order. O São Paulo anunciou o técnico Dorival Júnior no fim da tarde desta quarta-feira, mas antes a diretoria já garantiu outra novidade na comissão técnica pelo menos para essa semana. André Jardine, que comanda a equipe sub-20 do clube, acumulará o trabalho nas categorias de base com o de auxiliar de Pintado, ex-volante que deve estar à frente do Tricolor contra o Santos, no domingo, na Vila Belmiro.

A ideia da diretoria é para ajudar Pintado. Havia uma expectativa inicial de que Dorival pudesse estrear no clássico do fim de semana. Mas uma questão familiar do técnico (sua esposa sofre com problema cardíaco e passará por exames a partir desta quinta-feira) deve fazer com que ele se apresente só na próxima semana.

Enquanto o substituto de Rogério Ceni não chega, cabe a apenas Pintado, com auxílio de Jardine, membro permanente da comissão técnica e contratado pela diretoria, comandar os treinos e o time interinamente. O inglês Michael Beale e o francês Charles Hembert, trazidos por Ceni para auxiliá-lo, também deixaram o clube e, por isso, foi avaliado que o ex-volante precisará de ajuda.

André Jardine está no clube desde 2015 e é um nome que ficou marcado entre os torcedores por acumular títulos com a equipe sub-20 em 2016. Teve rápida passagem pelo time principal em agosto do no ano passado, entre a saída de Edgardo Bauza e a chegada de Ricardo Gomes, comandando os profissionais na vitória por 2 a 1 sobre o Santa Cruz, em Pernambuco, e na derrota por 1 a 0 para o Botafogo, no Morumbi.

Inicialmente, a ideia era de não subir mais nenhum profissional da base para a comissão técnica principal. Mas, para ajudar Pintado, Jardine conciliará o trabalho de treinador do time sub-20 e de auxiliar no principal.

Graham Roberts insists that Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo should have been allowed to sign Adama Traore from Wolves in the summer.

The club were heavily linked with a swoop to sign the Spain international from their Premier League rivals.

Reports claimed that the club initially attempted to sign Adama on loan, with the option to buy him next summer if they saw fit.

Wolves rebuffed that bid, while there was also reported to be an offer of £30m tabled, which was again rejected by the Molineux side.

Traore has gone on to enjoy an eye-catching start to the season, with his blistering pace a major contributing factor to the way Wolves play.

They have only won one game in the Premier League thus far but Adama remains central to manager Bruno Lage’s game-plan.

Roberts believes that Traore should have been snapped up if he was the only player that Santo specifically requested.

He said: “If Nuno wanted him he should have got him. He didn’t ask for much. So if Nuno wanted him, and he wanted one player, he should have got him, no doubt about it.”

Mills decided to skip domestic games in the past two weeks to rest his right knee, but believes the niggle will not prevent him from leading the attack against Australia.”The knee’s pretty good. It’s just something that’s been hanging around now for the last year or so,” Mills told . He had missed the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies after undergoing surgery on a tendon on his left knee, and is facing a similar problem with his right knee at present.”It’s not a major or anything like that but we decided I should have a few days off because we’ve got a pretty intense schedule once the one-dayers against Australia start. I’ve had a rest now and will be playing again on Sunday against Central Districts. I’m feeling very comfortable with where I’m at right now.”He said he was pleased with they way he bowled against West Indies on their recent visit, and was ready to take charge in Australia. “Dan Vettori and I need to lead the bowling attack,” Mills said. “We are the most experienced bowlers within the side, so it’s no surprise the responsibility to take wickets falls on us.” New Zealand’s 14-man squad includes two uncapped players in 19-year-old fast bowler Trent Boult and allrounder Brendon Diamanti, while the likes of Tim Southee and Iain O’Brien do not have a lot of ODI experience.Mills has also been called up in the past to take on leadership roles off the field, among them being mentoring Jesse Ryder during the Test tour of Australia last year after Jacob Oram had been ruled out of the series. “I was just giving Jesse a helping hand throughout the tour and just keeping the lines of communication open with his support group back in New Zealand,” he said. “I was a link between the two really. Jacob Oram is the main guy who has been helping Jesse through everything and the fact that Jacob didn’t tour Australia due to injury meant I put my hand up to fill that role in his absence.”It was only a temporary situation because Jacob knew Jesse through Central Districts. I stood in his shoes while we were over there. It wasn’t a major thing or anything like that.”Ryder has fallen into trouble since the tour; the batsman was fined for missing a team meeting and a training session after a late night of drinking, and was omitted for the fourth ODI against West Indies in Wellington. Mills, though, is unsure if there will be a mentor on the upcoming tour as well, with Oram out due to injury.”Nothing like that has been set in stone for this upcoming trip,” he said. “All of us support each other when we are on tour.”We all know Jesse has been going through a pretty tough time and hopefully he’s coming out the back-end of it. As team-mates of his, we all support him. I’m not the only one. There are quite a few guys in this side who are helping him through his issues.”

A reunião do Conselho Deliberativo do Vasco na última terça-feira segue repercutindo. Depois do caso do flamenguista nomeado sócio emérito do clube, divulgado pelo LANCE! na última quarta-feira, uma nova polêmica em proximidade ao período eleitoral se estabeleceu. Um total de 11 nomeados (confira abaixo com a data de admissão de cada um) são suspeitos pela oposição de não cumprirem requisitos institucionais para terem ganhado os títulos especiais – para benemérito, precisa pertencer ao quadro social há mais de 15 anos, enquanto 10 anos são necessários para a categoria de emérito, além de pontuação necessária do regimento. Na última reunião, há reclamações de membros da oposição de não terem tido espaço em plenário para reivindicação dos pontos que seriam de discordância. Há expectativa de que a oposição entre na Justiça Comum para questionar os direitos.

Vale destacar que há a possibilidade de casos de excepcionalidade para que sócios tenham direito aos títulos de emérito e benemérito no Vasco, mesmo não cumprindo o tempo requerido pelo estatuto e regimento. Para isso, porém, alínea 3 do artigo 12 diz que se faz necessário pareceres justificando os motivos cinco dias antes – como exemplo a importância de serviços prestados ao Vasco. O que pesa neste sentido, segundo conselheiros ouvidos pelo LANCE! com a lista em mãos, entretanto, é que não foram apresentados os mesmos para o assunto. Grupos, como o “Ao Vasco Tudo”, de Otto Carvalho, e “Sempre Vasco”, de Julio Brant, protocolaram na secretaria do clube pedidos de explicações. O presidente Eurico Miranda, segundo os mesmos, foi responsável na indicação.

-Nosso grupo protocolou uma carta pedindo que o rito estatutário fosse seguido. Obviamente existem casos de excepcionalidade que entendemos que acontecem e devem ser analisados individualmente. O problema que as coisas no Vasco são feitas de formas obscuras até mesmo para os conselheiros. A indicação de um flamenguista, que denigre a imagem do Vasco nas redes sociais, pelo Presidente da Diretoria Administrativa para receber um título de sócio emérito já é um absurdo… Mas o pior é o fato dos conselheiros aprovarem o nome mesmo ciente do caso. Isso só demonstra o quanto o Conselho Deliberativo é submisso ao Presidente da Diretoria Administrativa – afirmou o conselheiro fiscal Diego Carvalho, do “Ao Vasco Tudo”, ao LANCE!.

Sócios eméritos e beneméritos, vale lembrar, integram a lista de aptos a votarem para a composição da Diretoria Administrativa (que define o presidente para o triênio). No Vasco, por ter regime de eleição indireta, os sócios estatutários (tem a regra de um ano de sócio) votam em chapas. A chapa vitoriosa indica 120 membros eleitos e o segundo colocado, 30 – somando 150 e que se juntam a outros 150, considerados natos, os quais entram na lista os que ganharam títulos beneméritos esta semana. Na prática, são os que vão decidir quem comandará o Vasco no triênio 2018/2020. A eleição deste ano ocorre em novembro e o atual presidente Eurico Miranda tentará a reeleição.

O LANCE! entrou em contato com o Vasco solicitando a posição oficial do clube sobre o caso. Vice-presidente de marketing, Marco Antonio Monteiro foi o responsável por explicar a situação em contato com a reportagem:

– Não aconteceu nenhuma irregularidade. Todos os sócios que ganharam títulos de emérito e benemérito estão aptos para isso, sem exceção. O regimento e o estatuto do Vasco foram cumpridos integralmente. Os pareceres, questionados pela oposição, não eram para serem apresentados na reunião do Deliberativo, que é feita apenas para votação de sim ou não, sem discussão. Eles foram feitos e aprovados na reunião do fim do ano passado no Conselho de Beneméritos. A oposição, se quisesse questionar algo, deveria tê-lo feito na reunião do ano passado, não na de agora. Estão reclamando na instância errada. Todos que ganharam esses títulos prestaram serviços ao Vasco merecedores para tanto, como o regimento e o estatuto determinam. Não há necessidade de envio de parecer explicando os motivos até para os que não têm o tempo, há casos de excepcionalidade. E os 11 se encaixam, inclusive o que seria torcedor do Flamengo como citaram. O João Havelange (ex-presidente da Fifa, já falecido, e torcedor declarado do Fluminense) tinha título do Vasco, podia votar… Enfim, nenhuma irregularidade aconteceu no assunto.

Liverpool are reportedly amongst a host of clubs monitoring the situation of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his engine room options.

What’s the story?

According to reliable journalist Christian Falk, who is the head of football for German outlet Sport Bild, the Reds have joined fellow Premier League sides Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in taking a close look at the highly-rated 18-year-old.

However, Falk also revealed that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are leading the race for Wirtz’s signature ahead of a possible move in 2023.

He tweeted: TRUE @ManCity scout Florian Witz (18) intensely. Also @ChelseaFC @LFC @ManUtd and @Arsenal are interested. But: @FCBayern is leading the race for a Transfer in 2023″.

Jurgen Klopp would love him

Wirtz was awarded his first-team debut at just 16 thanks to his natural physical prowess and immense talent and has gone from strength to strength ever since, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 53 appearances for Leverkusen.

The youngster appears to have taken his already impressive game to another level this season, though. In just six outings for Gerardo Seoane’s charges, the attacking midfielder has bagged five goals, laying on a further four assists for his teammates.

His outstanding displays for the BayArena outfit have attracted the attention of several sides, although Wirtz’s immediate future appears to lie with the eternal bridesmaids as Wirtz is reportedly happy to stay at Leverkusen in the short term.

Nevertheless, with Liverpool’s squad in need of some younger, fresher legs and Klopp preferring to work with a smaller squad full of versatile players, the German tactician would surely love to bring his compatriot to Anfield in the near future.

Wirtz is comfortable in a variety of positions having played as a No.8, No.10, left-winger and striker throughout his short career, an attribute which will be extremely appealing to Klopp.

It remains to be seen whether director of football Michael Edwards can pull off another transfer masterclass and secure Wirtz’s signature, but if he can, it would surely go down as one of his best pieces of business.
