They did not disappoint. Mishra and Bundela plundered at will on the flat pitch and Wasim Jaffer had nine fielders on the boundary for the major part of the first session. The batsmen still kept hitting the odd boundary, and Mishra smashed five sixes as well. Some of them were flat and clean strikes against the medium-pacers that clearedlong-on.With Dhawal Kulkarni resting ahead of the semi-final against Tamil Nadu because of a shin niggle, the Mumbai spinners did the bulk of the bowling. Ankeet Chavan bowled 40 overs for a return of 1 for 171. Mumbai were not thinking about taking wickets; their only consideration was to bat for as few overs as possible. MP helped them by batting on for a few more overs after lunch so that Bundela could get to his century. When the declaration finally came, Mishra was unbeaten on 174.Pawar, who had rescued Mumbai in the first innings with a defiant 161, punched powerfully off the back foot for boundaries to sign off with a half-century in the second. The pitch looked good to last another four days; it was their indecisive batting on the first morning, when the surface was at its freshest, that ended MP’s tournament.

Hashan Tillakaratne, the former Sri Lanka captain turned politician, has written to the ICC claiming there was political interference in the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) elections held on January 3, and that the elections had also violated the SLC’s constitution.Tillakaratne alleged the Sri Lanka government allowed a change of voting delegates at the last minute in order to ensure that votes were cast for a predetermined list of candidates, and that several of those who were elected were not qualified to hold office under the constitution.However, in an email to ESPNcricinfo, the ICC said they have “no knowledge of such a letter”.Tillakaratne’s comments echo those of Mohan de Silva, one of the opposing candidates for vice-president, whose group withdrew on the eve of the election in protest of what they saw as political interference.”Most of our member clubs and associations brought to our notice that there was undue pressure put on them to change the delegates [who would vote],” de Silva said at the time.A total of 147 votes were spread among the provincial and district cricket associations and the clubs. The election was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports, and supervised by the Director General of Sports, Ranjani Jayakody. In his letter, Hashan claimed that “the Director General of Sports instructed all clubs eligible to vote at the said elections to submit their list of delegates who will be attending on or before 12 noon on 19th December 2012. However, just three days before the election this list of delegates was mysteriously changed and several high ranking Government Ministers were renamed as delegates.”This was done to ensure that all the clubs that came within the said Ministers electorates or Districts would tow the ‘political line’.”In addition, Tillakaratne claimed that a number of contestants did not qualify under Article 11 (v) (f) of the SLC’s constitution, which states that any candidate for office must have served on the executive committee for a period of two years within the 15-year period immediately preceding the election.”When these objections were raised, the position taken by the Director General of Sports was that the Hon Minister of Sports could waive this requirement in the SLC Constitution,” Tillakaratne said. “However, it was then pointed out to the said Director General that the only exemption that the Minister could make in terms of the Sports Law and the Regulations thereunder is to permit a candidate who has not played first class cricket to contest for a post. The Minister had no power to waive any other requirement in the Constitution of SLC.”However, no inquiry was held and no decision taken with regard to these objections and these candidates who did not qualify in terms of the constitution of SLC were allowed to contest for appointment to these posts (and subsequently take up office).”According to Tillakaratne, the elections clearly violated the ICC’s articles, which seek to prevent governments from interfering in the administration of the sport. “Due to political interference the membership of SLC have been deprived of an opportunity to have free and fair elections.”Upali Dharmadasa was elected unopposed as president of SLC on January 3 in the board’s first election in seven years. Nishantha Ranatunga was voted in uncontested as secretary and Nuski Mohamed was elected treasurer. The only election to be contested was for the post of assistant treasurer, with Ajitha Pasqual winning comfortably. All those elected will serve a one-year term.Following the election, Jayakody denied there had been any pressure and said the delegates represented the views of clubs and therefore their individual preferences were not of any consequence. “The concerned parties can take necessary legal action,” she told reporters. “I held a fair election.”

ويحل بيراميدز ضيفًا على فيوتشر في السادسة من مساء الأحد على استاد السلام في إطار لقاءات الجولة الثانية من دور المجموعات للبطولة القارية.

وأشار فخر الدين إلى أن كلا الفريقين يعرفان كل صغيرة وكبيرة عن بعضهما، مُشددًا على أن اللقاءات السابقة تشهد دائما إثارة وقوة في كل دقيقة، وفي النهاية سيفوز الفريق الأكثر اجتهادًا ورغبة في الانتصار.

وأضاف أنه كان يعاني من إصابة في الظهر خلال الفترة الماضية وغاب عن اللقاء الماضي، ولكنه جاهز حاليًا وشارك في التدريبات ويشكر الجهاز الفني والطبي واللاعبين على دعمه ومساندته وعودته سريعًا للملاعب ومتمنيًا الفوز والثلاث نقاط.

Matthew Wade is expected to earn a Test call-up for the tour of the West Indies in April after the national selector John Inverarity expressed his desire to have two wicketkeepers in the squad. Wade has been named in Australia’s side for the first three ODIs of the upcoming tri-series while Brad Haddin rests following a long period of cricket.Strong performances from Wade in those matches could build pressure on Haddin, 34, who has had a difficult few months with the bat and behind the stumps. The coach Mickey Arthur wants Haddin to still be around for the 2013 Ashes but Wade, 24, is also viewed as a potential Test player and averages 40.16 in first-class cricket.Last time the Australians played Tests in the West Indies they were forced to fly Luke Ronchi in mid-tour as a standby player for Haddin, who in his debut Test series broke a finger, but battled on and played all three Tests. Derlis González pede passagem no Santos. Aos 24 anos, deu assistência e marcou um golaço contra o Bahia, no último sábado, na Vila Belmiro. Atuação que o gabaritou a brigar por uma vaga no time titular do Peixe contra o Independiente, nesta terça-feira, pelas oitavas de final da Libertadores. Veloz, dono de boa explosão e arrancada e afiado na finalização, mostrou que pode ser decisivo e surpreender o time argentino.

A ótima fase de de Derlis, que já havia dado assistência contra o Sport, em outra chance dada por Cuca, contrastada com o momento ruim de Bruno Henrique. O camisa 11, embora tenha 16 jogos a mais, tem números piores: apenas dois gols e uma assistência na temporada. Por isso, é justamente Bruno uns dos que tem a vaga mais ameaçada.

– Derlis se adaptou rápido, força, explosão, joga com muita disposição e foi premiado com gol e passe para Gabriel – havia ponderado Cuca, durante entrevista coletiva no último sábado, após a vitória.

O problema é que o Santos tem uma série de problemas para o jogo de terça-feira, o que pode obrigar Cuca a voltar a pensar na equipe com quatro atacantes, como fez diante do Tricolor baiano. Dodô não poderá atuar na lateral esquerda por ter sido expulso na Argentina. Jean Mota e Diego Pituca são as opções para o setor.

Caso o Santos tenha um ataque formado por três peças, neste momento, quem melhor se encaixa na função é Derlis, deixando a possibilidade para Gabriel atuar mais centralizado e Rodrygo ser deslocado para a esquerda. Com quatro atacantes, como foi contra o Bahia, Bruno seria mantido na equipe, para o Rayo jogar um pouco mais recuado pelo meio.

Seja como for, a certeza é que Cuca precisará povoar o meio-campo e tentar manter o Peixe organizado – o time está invicto há quatro partidas. Com isso, a boa fase de Derlis pode ser determinante a favor do Peixe na partida no Pacaembu. Vale lembrar que nesta segunda a Conmebol deve decidir se o clube será ou não punido por suposta escalação irregular de Carlos Sánchez na Argentina. Caso o clube seja penalizado, será decretada derrotada de 3 a 0 na ida e haverá necessidade de triunfo por quatro gols de diferença para avançar direto ou 3 a 0 para definir nos pênaltis.
