Kevin Pietersen’s management has issued a statement expressing his disappointment at his exclusion from the England squad for the Test tour of India.Pietersen was not considered by the England selectors following the revelation that he had exchanged messages with members of the South Africa touring party that contained derogatory remarks about Andrew Strauss and after it became clear that Pietersen’s relationship with other members of the England side had deteriorated to an unhealthy level.While Pietersen and officials at the ECB have been in dialogue in recent times, the managing director of England cricket, Hugh Morris, said “as there are issues still to be resolved Kevin has not been considered for selection for the India tour.”The statement revealed that Pietersen had apologised in person to Strauss and officials at the ECB, while also reaffirming his commitment to playing international cricket for England.However Pietersen also insisted that, contrary to some reports, he had at no stage exchanged “tactical advice” with anyone in the South Africa camp about any colleagues in the England team.”Kevin Pietersen is very disappointed about today’s decision having gone to great lengths to reach a reconciliation with the ECB,” the statement read. “Pietersen has met with and apologised to Andrew Strauss.”He has also met with Alastair Cook to stress his commitment to England and he has met with ECB Board members including face to face meetings with Hugh Morris, David Collier and Andy Flower prior to his departure to Sri Lanka.”At all times Pietersen has wished his meetings with the ECB to remain private so as not to inflame an already difficult situation.”His recent silence was not an admission of any wrong doing. He wanted to explain and apologise to the ECB for the messages exchanged with members of the South Africa team.”He has also made it absolutely clear to the ECB and the England team that despite unsubstantiated allegations to the contrary and repeated media speculation he did not offer any tactical advice to the South Africans. Pietersen remains available for England.”

Pelo Brasileirão foram três jogos, com dois empates e uma vitória. Na segunda rodada da competição, o Tricolor segurou o 0x0 com o Ceará, no Castelão. Naquela ocasião, o time do técnico Diego Aguirre, até então líder do Brasileirão, bateu os pernambucanos, por 3 a 1, e dava indícios de que brigaria pelo título nacional ao fim da temporada.

Curiosamente aquela foi a última vitória são-paulina fora de casa no principal campeonato do país. De lá para cá, o time foi eliminado da Sul-Americana, perdeu pontos importantes, viu o Palmeiras assumir a liderança do Brasileirão e caiu em descrédito com sua torcida. Tudo isso em apenas 13 jogos.

No atual contexto, a diretoria do Morumbi definiu como meta uma vaga direta na Copa Libertadores do ano que vem. Na quarta colocação, com 53 pontos, o São Paulo corre atrás de seu objetivo. Nesta sexta, pela 31ª rodada do Brasileirão, o desafio é contra o Vitória, que briga para não ser rebaixado, no Barradão. Será o último jogo do Tricolor no Nordeste nesta temporada.

وأشارت التقارير كذلك إلى أن كيسيه رفض تخفيض راتبه، بعدما تواصل النادي مع وكلاء اللاعب للحديث عن الأمر.

أوضح وكلاء كيسيه أن تلك الشائعات المتداولة بالصحف الإسبانية، ليس لها أي أساس من الصحة، ولم تكن هناك أي محادثات بين برشلونة واللاعب الإيفواري، موضحين أن تلك الشائعات تضر باللاعب وناديه.

New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne has been ruled out of the Twenty20 series against South Africa, after picking up an Achilles injury while warming-up for a first-class game on Monday. He will be replaced by Mark Gillespie, who is returning to international cricket after a nine-month injury lay-off.Milne, 20, injured his leg while exercising just prior to his game for Central Districts against Wellington in New Zealand’s domestic first-class competition, the Plunket Shield. The injury was not very serious, New Zealand Cricket’s medical team said, but they didn’t want risk any further damage and so decided to pull Milne out of the series.Gillespie, who will join the squad in South Africa on Friday, last played an international match against the same opposition – the Wellington Test on South Africa’s tour of New Zealand in March this year. That series also marked an international comeback for Gillespie, who had not played for New Zealand for over three years previously. He made his mark too, finishing New Zealand’s top wicket-taker despite playing only two out of the three Tests, but was then ruled out with an ankle injury.He returned to competitive cricket in October, and has 13 wickets in three first-class games for Wellington since then.National selection manager Kim Littlejohn said South Africa should suit Gillespie: “It is disappointing for Adam to suffer an injury however it does present a great opportunity for Mark. Mark has an impressive record in South Africa and the conditions will suit his aggressive style of pace bowling.”The first T20 of the three-match series will be played in Durban on December 21.

No caso de Jhonny Lucas, o grande obstáculo do Vasco é o valor da negociação. Peter Siddle expects he will be fit for the Perth Test, but won’t know for sure until he bowls and fields at training on Thursday. Siddle’s extreme workload during the Adelaide Test – he felt “a little bit delirious” by the time he sent down the last over of the match – was one of the reasons the Australia selectors named six fast bowlers in the squad for the third Test at the WACA, where a four-man pace attack is a strong possibility.Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus shouldered heavy burdens at Adelaide Oval due to James Pattinson breaking down in South Africa’s first innings, and while Hilfenhaus bowled 53.3 overs, it was Siddle’s 63.5 overs that drew the most attention. It was not surprising that Siddle was squatting on his haunches between overs as the fifth day drew to a close, for he delivered more overs than any other Australia fast bowler has in a Test in the past 13 years.The last to send down that many was Glenn McGrath, who bowled a remarkable 77 overs in Barbados in 1999 and backed it up with 63.1 when the Antigua Test started only three days later. But McGrath was freakishly indefatigable. The only other Australian quick to bowl as many in a Test as Siddle in the past 20 years was Craig McDermott, who sent down 68 overs in Adelaide in 1995 and strained his back in the next Test, although he returned later in the match and bowled Australia to victory.Knowing the expectations that were placed on him and Hilfenhaus when Pattinson was injured, Siddle said he would not want to enter the Perth Test with any queries over his fitness. He will do some bowling at training on Thursday, the day before the match, but will work more on fielding and running and will discuss his readiness with the captain, Michael Clarke and the coach, Mickey Arthur, after that.”I’ll have to wait until tomorrow but at the moment I’m feeling good,” Siddle said in Perth on Wednesday. “You never want to [pull out] but you’ve still got to think of the end result as well. Obviously I don’t want to miss any Test matches but in the end if I’m struggling through tomorrow or If I don’t feel 100% I’ve got to talk to the captain, the selectors and work out what’s the best.”You see the hard work we went through in the last match with someone breaking down after nine overs and the efforts Hilfy and myself had to go through to bowl those massive amount of overs. You don’t want that happening again here, where it’s such a big game and so much riding on the line of it. You want everyone to be right. So I just have to wait and see how I’m feeling and make a judgment after training tomorrow.”Should Australia decide not to risk Siddle, they have plenty of options in the squad. Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Johnson provide left-arm variety and Josh Hazlewood and John Hastings will also come into consideration as steady right-armers. Australia must also see how Hilfenhaus recovers after Adelaide, although Siddle was the bigger worry after he fought through exhaustion on Monday evening to give Australia everything he could to deliver victory.”It was a weird frame of mind. I was a little bit delirious,” Siddle said of his last few overs. “I knew I just had to get back to the mark and charge in, bowl as fast as I could and try and get something out of it. That’s what I knew I had to keep doing. I didn’t really think about it too much, I just got back to the mark and kept going. It was a weird sort of feeling. Very tired and draining after the game, that’s for sure.”That’s probably the most I’ve felt it out on the field. The heat was a lot warmer than we probably thought, out in the middle. It was very dry and very hard to get your breath in and very hot. It did take a lot out of us. Short, sharp spells and only having the two quicks that we had to bowl continually from one end, it did make it hard.”At least Siddle’s enormous effort showed that his switch to a vegetarian diet hasn’t affected his endurance. He might occasionally cop some grief from his team-mates for his new lifestyle but Siddle firmly believes his body has thanked him over the past couple of days.”I’ve actually recovered a lot better than I thought I would,” he said. “Everything’s moving a lot better and I’m feeling a lot healthier. That’s probably a massive part, being vegetarian is playing a big part and no alcohol has topped that off nicely. It’s all working well at the moment and hopefully I can keep performing well and keep the body fit and strong.”

O São Paulo sempre enxergou o salário elevado de Hernanes como maior empecilho para tê-lo de volta. São cerca de R$ 2 milhões mensais, valor muito superior ao que o clube pode oferecer. O Profeta precisaria estar disposto a ganhar menos para retornar. Outra alternativa, segundo o site da ESPN, seria encontrar um parceiro para ajudar a bancar os vencimentos dele.

Em janeiro, o São Paulo acreditava ser possível negociar a compra dos direitos econômicos do meia com o Hebei China Fortune, mas não conseguiria pagar um salário semelhante ao que ele recebia lá. Por isso, Hernanes retornou à China após ficar um semestre emprestado ao clube que o revelou e se destacar no Brasileirão.

Depois de contratar os laterais Igor Vinícius e Léo Pelé e o atacante Pablo, o São Paulo está à procura de reforços para o meio de campo. Um volante e um meia são prioridades da diretoria.
